My sincere condolences to the Bakalich family. I remember sitting around the table with him and playing Rummy Cube with him, and his family. He was always laughing and cracking jokes when I was around and made his daughters face light up with a smile. He was a good man and kind. A great father and husband. Seeing anyone around Brian was always filled with laughter and smiles all around. My thoughts and prayers will always be with you and your family.

So sorry for you loss. He was a great guy. I grew up around the corner from him. I wish I would have known him then. He would stop by Central Credit Union in Bellwood with a smile on his face. We always felt protected when he was around. He will definitely be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

My deepest and sincere condolences to the family. Brian was a one of a kind great guy. A true pleasure to work with and always had sound advice in the most adverse circumstances. He was a true intellectual in every sense of the word. So much so that the late Randy Leslie and I referred to him as “Boy Genius “ with all respect and affection. He will be greatly missed by all who meet him. Ed Pacilli

My sincere condolences to the Bakalich family. Brian was my best friend growing up. Everything I've read in the condolence reviews are 100% true. Regrettably...I lost touch with him in our mid 30's. This comes as a shock. He was a tremendous human being.

Our sincere condolences to the Bakalich family. Officer Bakalich always stopped by the Resource Center to check on us, introduce us to the new officers he was training, “check on his email” (meaning restroom break), and share a few words about current events, politics, his family and life in general. We missed him after he retired plus thought and inquired about him often. May God comfort and keep you during this difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

My sincere condolences to Brian’s family, friends and his Bellwood P.D., extended family members. Brian will always be remembered for having all sorts of conversations. We became brother & sister from clearly different sets of parents. He would always say “they would be proud of who we’ve become, like family and all”. Then we’d laugh about it! What a laugh! Brian my little brother, well we did keep our promise, we got together for lunch after I retired and stayed in touch after he retired. To have known Brian and his family for almost 30yrs is and will continue to be an honor.❤️

I'm so sorry to hear about Brian. I have nothing but good memories of him. He had a good heart and was a very intelligent, courageous officer. I remember one time backing him on a "shots fired" call. By the time I got there, he (by himself) had everyone in custody, no one got hurt and we recovered the weapon. It was perfect. And with his sense of humor, he was always a lot of fun to be around. I know the kind of man he was. He was a great dad and husband. Our deepest sympathies to his family.

I'm a retired Hillside PD officer, who had the priviledge of knowing and working with Brian when I was on the job. He was not only a great policeman, but also a great person. I'm proud to be able to have called him a friend. The highest compliment I could pay him is to say if I called for a back-up, and Brian arrived, I knew the situation was "in hand". My deepest sympathies to family.

My friend and co-worker for 20 years. A true servant and asset to society. A lover of history and trivia, we had many great debates. Our conversations always inevitably ended with his resolve to ultimately be prepared to meet his Savior. He was a class act in my book and his presence will be greatly missed.
