Chris: I just saw the sad news about Steve in the Walther email newsletter. I don 't know why I didn't see it sooner, but I did want you to know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. God's peace!

Chris, I am so sorry to hear of Steve's passing. He and I go all the way back to grade school at St. John's. He was a wonderful person, and a terrific husband and father. I am sure he is singing in the choirs of heaven. May God's comforting hand be extended to you and your family as you mourn his loss.

Chris, I am thinking of you at this moment and hope the prayers and memories shared will sustain you and give you peace. Steve will always be with you and in your heart. I look back with fond memories of Steve when we were pledge brothers together at Beta Sigma Psi and the homecoming reunions we attended after graduation. Wish I had attended more frequently over the years. God be with you, Chris, and your family.

Steve and I were good friends in high school. We worked together in the Young Republicans and the Civil War Roundtable. We sang together and spent quality time doing nothing at all. It was Steve who helped Darlene and me get set up for grad school at the U of I. We were the janitors at the Lutheran Student Center because Steve got us in the door. His good humor and his faith will be truly missed. May God be with Chris and his entire family. Our love and prayers are with you!

What a great example for us at St. John. His voice and his Christian witness were a blessing to all. Especially his work in the classroom and the student's lifes that he changed.
