Condolences

My deep condolences to Bob's family. I worked for Bob at Nova for 10 years. What an incredibly intelligent and multi-faceted man, with a natural optimism and unusual modesty despite his superior talents and skills. It's a huge loss. I'm grateful to have known him and so very sad to hear of his passing.

We are so sorry for your loss. Bob was such a great person and neighbor and he will be surely missed. I enjoyed hearing all of his amazing stories and seeing all his neat things like his airplane in his garage. He was also a great listener and genuine person. He was so proud of all his children and grandchildren and he lit up while speaking about them. I know he lived his life to the fullest and I look up to his upbeat and positive nature. Please let us know if there’s anything we can do to help out.

Corinne and family, know that you are all in our prayers. Our heartfelt sympathy & thoughts are with you. We are so very saddened by Bob's passing. For over 30 years, because of my close friendship with Doreen, whenever I had the chance to talk to Bob at family get togethers, I knew that I was going to learn something new, hear an incredible story or get some sound advice. His storytelling only got better with time. After getting married & having my son, Marco, he continued to entertain & engage us with his family history, fascinating stories of growing up in Chicago, especially his high school years at Lane Tech, interesting jobs he once held, and of course his adventures. His unforgettable laughter and humor was contagious! He loved a good conversation but what he loved most was sharing how proud he was of his beautiful family. He was a proud husband, father & grandfather! He will be greatly missed. Sending you much love, peace & strength. May God bless you & surround you with his loving comfort. Love, Marco, Mirna & Marco

Want to give my deepest sympathy and condolance to the entire family. Siblings, children, grandchild, and Corinne. Bob was my dear friend. Our friendship goes back to 1968. I was 21, and attending University at Michigan State. I traveled with a friend to Chicago from East Lansing, michigan to look for a summer job. There weren’t many job postings back then, so we had to go door to door. My friend said, ‘you go in that building, and I’ll go in the one across the street”. It was in that brief decision and moment that I would meet my mentor, inspiration, boss and dear friend, Bob. I got to the 3rd floor and met Bob. He ran a print shop and offered me a job as a pressman. It was my first printing job, which would catapult me into a lifelong career as a printer. We started working together every Summer until I graduated University. I then moved to Chicago and started working full time. My name is Viresh Patel, but back then, people didn’t know how to pronounce many ethnic names so Bob gave me a nickname that has stuck to this day. Pat. He put it in on my locker at work. He still called me Viresh though. After Bob’s separation from his first wife, we ended up moving in together. He had four kids at the time. Laura, Kathy, Mark and Bobby Jr. I would help to babysit the kids and became very fond of them. After Bob met his current wife, Corinne, we ended up moving apart, but our friendship never changed. Bob taught me so much. Not only printing, but construction, plumbing, we even built model boats together. He was my mentor, and I looked up to him. He told me once that I was the smartest person he knew and I told him he was the smartest and the hardest working man I knew. I have and will always admire Bob. He was so adventurous and cool. He loved the water and boats, motorcycles, vintage cars and even built his own airplane. Bob and I scuba dived together, and were members of the the penguins scuba club in Chicago. He was a cool dude. My life changed after meeting Bob, for sure. I wouldn’t be the man I am now if it weren’t for him. He will forever be in my thoughts and heart. Will be missed dearly. God blessed his great family. He is better place with GOD.
