Obituary


American FlagLloyd (Andy) Edward Ander, 95, of Elmhurst, died at home under Hospice care on July 29, 2017. He was a WWII Navy Veteran, in Norman, Oklahoma, where he met and married his wife of 70 years, Doris (Dottie) Hope Ander (nee Corden). After the war, they moved to Chicago and settled in Stickney, Illinois, until recently moving to a senior residential facility in Elmhurst.

They raised four sons: Michael (Linda), Paul (Arlis), Gary (Libby) and Kris (Mary). He is survived by nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and his brother Robert. He was preceded in death by his wife Dottie and his brother Earl.

Andy was an active member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Berwyn for more than 60 years and had many friends in the church and local community. Retiring from Commonwealth Edison after 40 years, he and Dottie volunteered at Brookfield Zoo for 30 years and delivered Meals on Wheels for 25 years.

Andy will be lying in state Wednesday, August 2, 2017, 9:30 a.m. to time of Service 10:30 a.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church, 130 W. Butterfield Road, Elmhurst. Interment will immediately follow at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery. Memorials appreciated to Brookfield Zoo, 3300 Golf Road, Brookfield, IL 60513 or Alzheimer's Association, 225 N.
