Joseph Stanley Cikan

I'm so sorry to hear about Joe passing. He was a classmate of mine at St Barbara grade school. I remember him as a kind gentle person. My condolences to his family and friends.

I know Joe would appreciate my description, a Yiddish word "Mensch". (I can even hear him laughing at this). It means a person of honor and integrity. Someone to be admired and emulated. Joe was a true friend and mentor, not just with work but with life.

We are so sorry to hear of Joe's passing. He was such a great neighbor during the short time we lived on Park Avenue and always so wonderful to our son, Grayson. Joe always extended an invitation to us to join his family and friends for holiday get-togethers knowing we had no local family. Our sincerest condolences go out to Joe's family, we know he will be dearly missed.

My condolences to Joe Cikan's family during this difficult loss. It was an honor to serve with Joe and an even greater honor to call him my friend. If there were more people like Joe in this life the world would be a better place. With Joe's passing, we are all missing one good person.He will always be remembered.

To hear such news about an incredible man is absolutely heartbreaking. I met Uncle Joe when I was 14 years old, he was always, always so nice and generous to his nieces and their friends, me being one of them. Uncle Joe always had something funny to say and his stories were fascinating. As I type this I cannot believe that he is gone. You will be missed Uncle Joe. I will miss seeing you around town and I will miss our chats at the health club. Thank you for always being so good to me if and when I was over at your house. Your friend, Krissy Joseph. I met Joe in 1985 when I was assigned to POL at O'Hare. He was a very kind, sincere, thoughtful person. I had the pleasure of being deployed with him during our time in the Air National Guard. He was a great mentor and friend. I'm truly blessed having him in my life. God bless him. Thank you, John C. Daily

My heart hurts. Good friend, best man at my wedding, "Uncle Joe" Cikan left too soon. We met at tech school in 1970 and served together at Rhein-Main AB, Germany; where we were barracks roommates. Joe had a lot of nervous energy--couldn't sit still. I can still hear him walking around in stocking feet; heels pounding the floor. That pent-up energy, made Joe a wonderful house guest. As hosts, we were delighted to find the place tidied, and laundry done-up. I saw characteristics of both parents in Joe. It will always be a mystery, how Joe had a Sicilian mother--a great cook, and didn't like pasta. Joe Cikan flew under the radar. Gave freely of himself to others. Above all else, he was a great listener. There are so many good memories, the likes of which, will never be repeated. Perhaps the latest, was the best--from last fall. Joe told the story about how George's per cat, Clyde, embezzled 100 dollar bills from his wallet. There remain, just the three of us: George Burbage, Ken Terry, and myself to tell the story of our fallen brother-in-arms. A salute to you, Joe Cikan! Proud to call you my friend.
