Condolences
It was with great sadness that I learned about the death of my friend and colleague, Joe. Joe helped me put my first book proposal through, and it is now published by NYU Press, "Critical Rhetorics of Race." I was trying to track him down to tell about my new job at Queens College and new projects, and see how he was doing. I am very saddened by his loss.

Although Joe and I didn't see each other as often as I'd have liked I felt a true connection to him. After I had spent one day in his class I realized no one had ever touched me the way Joe did. I don't need to tell you about his brillance and warmth but he had a blind faith in me that I had never felt from anyone aside from my parents. The most important thing Joe taught me was to be myself. Reading his books I still feel as though I'm able to have a conversation with him. As a young adult I have dealt with death before but it has never truly affected me until now. I send my deepest condolesnces to the Marconi family, please don't feel alone, we're all here.

Joe Marconi was by far one of the best teachers I have ever had. My friend and I used to stay after his class every week just to continue talking with him. He was brilliant, genuine, warm, and approachable. I can't say enough about what a wonderful person he was.

Professor Marconi was a great man. I had the opportunity to take two classes with him and learned a great deal from him. He will be greatly missed. Sending my condolences and keeping his family in my prayers.

Professor Marconi was an outstanding man. While a student at DePaul University, Marconi was a favorite among most. Going out of his way to help all students learn and understand through his exceptional ways of teaching. He will truly be missed. My prayers and condolences go out to his family. Much love.

Sorry to read of Joe's passing. He was friend and mentor at WCR in the 1980's.

Just reconnected with Joe a few years ago. Was a high school friend. He encouraged me to write my autobiography, and gave me a book of his to help me. He will be missed.

What a shock to read of our old neighbor's death. Joe was there for us during some rough times, and I had seen him again a few years ago. We always meant to get together again, but he was always so busy, writing, teaching, etc. He was a warm giving man and I will miss him. David S.
