John E. Slechter, Jr.

My father Al, who passed away in May 2021, was good friends with John for many years at the Post Office. I am very sorry to hear of John’s passing which I saw in the June issue of “The Postal Record”. My condolences to family and friends.

I'm so very sorry to hear this news. John gave me my first alcoholic beverage at our cousin Kevin's wedding! A Highball!! I was a senior in High School. I loved the drink too. I have many fond memories of my grandpa Donahue bringing me over to his moms house and John always being nice to me. Have that drink ready when I see you next cuz. May your gentle soul rest in peace.....

What can be said? John and I became close friends in 1955. He is like a brother to me and was the Best Man at my wedding. Because of distance we have only seen him twice in the last 50 years, but he is still the brother I never had. Deepest regrets to Jill and Bobbie and Eddie and their families.
