So sorry to hear of this loss of another Wernert...I am related to the Michigan Wernerts, who originated in Etna, PA, and I do believe John is still in Etna, PA. Another John Wernert passed away 2 weeks before your Edward did. My Dad, Joseph Wernert, passed away 1-10-10. I'm not sure we are related, but as far as I know, Wernert has always been a good German Family name. Once again, so sorry for the loss of a great man.
