Condolences

To the Edwards family, I’m very sorry for your loss. No matter how much time passes we still feel the loss of our loved ones and view death as God does, an enemy. (1 Corinthians 15:26) May you find comfort and hope in His promise at Revelation 21:3,4 that shows soon there will be no more death, and we can see our loved ones again. Please accept my deepest condolences.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Cathy's passing while out of town. I had the pleasure of knowing and working with her since I was hired on BPD back in 1986. Cathy had "Heart" and a willingness to participate for the betterment of her community. I liked her for that. Brookfield will miss her! My condolences to family and friends.

My sincerest sympathies to Cathy's Family and Friends. ----I Will Miss You Cathy ---

I lived across the street from Cathy during our school years. She was in my brother Steve's class - 2 years ahead of me. Cathy's energy, generosity, love of life, and concern for others' welfare was very evident even back then. She recently happily included me in her "8 Corners" neighborhood news emails and made time for a few personal emails as well. My sincere sympathy is sent to her family on their loss.

My thoughts and prayers go to Cathy's family and in particular to Mike. It has been a long time, but I will always remember the kindness she showed me throughout my youth. She was an extremely kind and generous person that I will always remember.

I always admired my friend Cathy ever since the time we met as volunteers at Congress Park School. We shared so much as our sons were growing up in band together - Cathy was always so proud of her composer brother and her musician son! And, dedicated to public service, so proud of Mike's Christie, a teacher, too. I never knew anyone so dedicated to public service and to keeping her Brookfield wonderful, safe, beautiful, and prospering. She was always there for everyone who needed her; she leaves a big legacy for the rest of us to fill. I'm so sorry I couldn't make it to the service - this week there is a chamber music festival in town, and I am housing and feeding a few musicians...Cathy wouldn't be surprised..."sorely missed" is such an understatement.

Cathy was one of my inspirations as I worked in the aging field at Aging Care Connections. She always gave me great advice and became a mentor in that respect. She was also an amazing ambassador of aging - absolutely extrordinary - one of the best Aging Well team members. A woman full of life and energy - I was so shocked when I heard of the news. All of my love, prayers and thoughts are with the family at this time.

I have known Cathy since we were little girls in school together, but only reconnected in the last few years thanks to FB. I was so glad that I was able to see her last September at our class reunion. My sincere condolences to her family, especially to her son, she was so proud of you.

Brookfield has lost a treasure. Cathy is not replaceable. Most recently Cathy generously provided guidance and support to launch the new Brookfield Community Cafe. The Cafe's success is a testament to Cathy's know how, vast community connections and passion to make sure that older adults have a place to go for healthy meals, social interaction and wellness programs. She had an amazing vision for what the Cafe could be one day and she was dedicated to making it happen. I will miss her so much. Diane Slezak

I an very saddened and my heart hurts. I will miss Cathy! I enjoyed and loved her friendship. She was absolutely wonderful the way she kept us all informed. When I come to Chicago it will defiantly not be the same. This seems so unfair and completely crazy as I just spoke to her a week ago. You will always be in my thoughts Cathy! With love, Suzi Stevens-Koller

Cathy was one of my Brookfield "Village People" when I was a young reporter at Suburban LIFE 20-25 years ago. I spent many mornings talking with her in the basement of the Village Hall, where she always had some kind of scoop, gossip or story idea. One of my favorite stories with her was when she told me about a popular soda fountain drink during her high school days called Boojie Beer. I'm glad we reconnected in recent years on social media. I know she will be very missed in Brookfield and I will miss her friendship, too.

I will miss being told what a dope I am. Politically we were opposites and often laughed about it. We exchanged emails last week about some people who had passed. I told her that I needed her to live a long time because "nobody rags me like she does." I am going to miss this wonderful woman.

Cathy I know I am only one of the many people you touched with your life and one of the many who will miss you. Although most of our memories were made during grade school and high school, you have always been kind gracious and generous to me. I was looking forward to us attending my 50th reunion together. Yours is a life well lived. My sincerest sympathy to your family and all your friends. I hold you in my heart.

Prayers to Cathy's family. What a wonderful person, friend, and asset to Brookfield! Cathy and I have known each other from her Rec Dept days when I worked for her teaching dance. Since then I have been privileged to know her as a friend to all and a staple in our community. Just the other day I walked out of Gross School, looked at the alum brick area, saw Cathy's name, and thought how blessed we are to have her love and passion for our community and town. Your light will continue to shine, Cathy. ♡

I am both surprised and saddened at her passing. She was truly one of the originals of Brookfield, who cared deeply about her village, and her friends. She came to me many times for historical information that I gladly conveyed back to her. She regarded me as Brookfield's Greatest Historian, and I regarded her as being a truly Great Lady and Personal Friend.
