William F. Boehnert

William F. Boehnert, 94, beloved husband of Margaret Boehnert, nee Schumann, passed away on March 13, 2011. He spent his early years in Joliet, and then lived in North Riverside for 64 years. From 1942 to 1945 he served as a radio sergeant in the U.S. Army in four campaigns of the Pacific Theater. After the war he married and worked for United Airlines for 35 years. His passion was HAM radio and he was known to operators near and far as W9WJZ. Family and friends will miss his joy in life and his quirky sense of humor. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, daughters Krista Ann Roche and Judy Martha Clune, their husbands Jim and Dan, grandchildren Jim Roche and wife Sally Sprouse, Margaret Clune Giblin and husband Bryan, Sarah Boehnert Clune, and Kathryn Anne Clune and great grandson Daniel Giblin. He was preceded in death by his parents William A. and Martha Boehnert, his sister Elfrieda Boehnert, and a granddaughter Heather Erin Roche. A memorial service was held at Hitzeman Funeral Home Ltd. 9445 West 31st Street, Brookfield, with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery in Joliet. Heartfelt thanks are extended to the staff of the Scottish Home where William and Margaret have resided for the past five years.
