Peggy and Cindy. So sorry to here about your Dad. He was a kind,Friendly and Funny guy. I remember all the times I went fishing with him and my Dad to Tomahawk, Wisconsin. What FUN times! There wasn't a time when I met him that he would asked me to pull his finger and always tell me a joke. Even though your Dad was 38 years my senior he made me feel I was one of the guys. I will truly miss his wit and humor. One last comment: Howie's CB HANDLE back in the day was "RED ROOSTER" how fitting for a man who was constantly moving.

Cindy and Peggy ... Just saw your dad's obit. What a long and wonderful life. Your family was such a special part of the Ascension Lutheran congregation for a number of years. I attended a play at Unity Lutheran in Berwyn a few weeks ago. Got to talking to a couple from Brookfield. They asked if I knew Howard and if he was still living. I told them I thought he was. I was right! He certainly was a memorable gentleman. My condolences.

Dear Cynthia and Peggy Sue, We are very sorry for your loss. The news came in a little late for us. What a great neighbor and a wonderful man Howie was! For 14 years (from 1979-1992), we lived next to Uncle Howie as our closest neighbor. Howie was 64 when we moved in next to him. We were most grateful when Howie and Dorothy warmly welcomed us to the neighborhood. Howie often spoke of Dorothy, after she passed away a few years later, and how he missed her. He also told me how proud he was to have such two smart daughters. Howie was strong, very kind, always humorous, and helpful in so many ways. He taught us many things as a first-time home owner. He was like a father to us. We used to borrow the tools from his garage all the time. Each spring, he would plant flowers for Dorothy. His lawn was always green and immaculate, compared to mine! For many years, Uncle Howie loved traveling. When he came back all smiling, he would tell us that he went to visit his money in Las Vegas! In 1993, we moved back to Thailand. But we always went back to visit Uncle Howie every chance we got, usually when we took our children to study at University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. Uncle Howie first saw Nate (1 year old) when we moved to Hollywood. Nate is now in Bangkok, Dan was born in 1984 (now in San Francisco) and Penn was born in 1988 (now in Honolulu). We all loved Uncle Howie and we will miss him greatly. We will make merit for him and Dorothy in Thailand.

What an amazing man who made a beautiful impression with everyone he met. My family and I were blessed to have spent time with Howie for only one weekend but we walked away with beautiful memories that won't be forgotten. There is only one "Howie" to us. And now his time to make a huge impact in heaven as he did on earth. We are very sorry for your loss . May your memories carry you through and be placed in the hands of his great grandchildren.

I am Uncle Howie's grandniece, and he was a very special man to so many people. He was a stalwart at all of our family celebrations growing up and was always the life of the party, ready with a joke and a hug for all. He will be missed, and it was a pleasure to know and love him and count him as family. Rest with the angels, Uncle Howie!!!

Dear Peggy and family, While reading Howie's obituary, I realized that Howie was your father. My condolences to all of you. Although Howie was unable to worship with us at St. Michael's, he was a cherished member because Don and Judy Hockemeyer kept us informed about his welfare. He lived a long life and was valued because of his military service as well. Hoping to see you Friday. Blessings, Sandi Jamieson
