Gerald “Jerry” A. Giovanoni

Hey, dad. I am finally home where I belong, and I know that mom is finally with you. The 10 years I had with you, though limited, I would NEVER trade for anything in the world. Even as a child I knew who you were and had ALWAYS looked up to you. Today, I still do...in many more ways than you knew. You always told me you were proud of me, and I know you were. Being a cop in Brookfield made me respect you much more because of how you cared for everyone in town and the ways you performed your service to the public with integrity, truth and honor. Thank you for those 10 years! I love you...I always have and always will. I will see you again, someday.

I knew him as "Uncle G"..he was a good friend & co-worker when I was a Desk Officer with the Village of Brookfield..

My family owns the Brookfield Restaurant. So, it goes without saying, Jerry was part of our family. Looked forward to seeing his happy face and his contagious smile. EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. I used to sit with him and listen to all his stories about his boats and toys for hours. He watched me grow up, and then watched my boys grow up. He told my oldest he was going to take him for a plane ride one day, and told him of all his police stories. They would sit and enjoy coffee and a burnt bagel (apple juice in a coffee cup for my son), and listen to that radio. When my son graduated preschool, he said I want to be a cop when I grow up like jerry. I could go on for hours on what an absolutely amazing soul Jerry was, and what a huge impact he had being in my life. Rest peacefully Jerry boy, although, you never drove in the slow lane! I love you more than you know and you have a huge part of my heart. Please watch over all of us. Xoxoxo

I just found out about Jerry. We loved him so much. He was like part of our family. My kids grew up with him and loved him soooo much. I am very sorry for your loss. He will be missed. Carrie, Bobby, Michael and Silver Holmes

Good-bye is hard: find solace in memories, So retreat to our private and special reveries. His voice, a story, boats, planes and trains; The sunny good times and the misting rains – All past images we love and treasure. Jerry, you are missed in the greatest measure .

Jerry was always a person who would make you laugh. He spoke what he felt and was an all around good guy. I am sure your special Brookfield Restaurant stool is waiting for you.RIP

When I was the late car at the end of the 3-11 shift and "G" was coming in to work the 11-7 shift, he would always hit the road early with the radio message, "Six-Two from Six-Five, you're faded". This meant that he was out and I could go in. Well old friend, YOU'RE faded. Go on home and get some rest.

Jerry broke my husband in and Bill always really liked him. He was such a great police officer and truly cared about the citizens of Brookfield. I will never forget his motorcycle in the parades. My kids always looked for him. RIP dear Jerry.

Jerry's Amateur Radio call sign was N9TUP. He was a long time member of the Six Meter Club of Chicago, and always found time to participate in our public service activities and special events. Jerry had a great sense of responsibility and humor aw well, and we will all miss him greatly.
