Margaret J. Lund, 71, of La Grange, passed peacefully in her home on Sunday, September 10, 2023. Marge, as she was known by friends and family, was born in Chicago, Illinois on August 5, 1952 to Elof and Eve Gawlikowski Lund. After graduating from St. Francis de Sales High School she attended Computer and Business Skills Institute and started a job at BorgWarner where she met her husband, Terry A. Lucke. Marge and Terry welcomed two children, Eric in 1983, and Brianne in 1986, eventually settling into their home in La Grange, Illinois.
Marge loved an adventure; her travels spanned the hemisphere, from Hawaii to the Bahamas, and all over America with her family in tow. Marge was always working on a project, whether at her sewing machine, on a pair of knitting needles, or in the garden. Marge was a ready supporter of her children throughout their youth in Scouting and Team Sports. A woman of faith, she found great joy offering her time in service to her church communities. Marge was a devoted friend to those near and far, and loved keeping in touch with pen pals in the military. She was a lover of all animals, especially the numerous rescue dogs that she had adopted and cared for through the years.
Marge is survived by her son, Eric Lucke; and daughter, Brianne Lucke (KC). She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Terry Lucke; parents Elof and Eva Lund; brothers, Philip (Karen) and John Lund; sister-in-law, Gail Mullins (Robert), and fur babies, Angel and Kodiak.
Marge was a very thoughtful woman who was never afraid to help a person in need. She was strong in her beliefs and always ready to express them with great moxie. Marge will be greatly missed by friends and family.
Memorial Services for family and friends will be held on Saturday, October 21st, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 20 N Ashland Ave, La Grange, IL 60525
