Andrew K. Jenkins

Obituary

Andrew K. Jenkins of Brookfield was 35 when we lost him. He grew up in LaGrange, where he was well-known for his love of sports, mischievous sense of humor, ever-present kindness and devotion to all animals.

Andrew was a rock. Mostly that meant brave and dependable, occasionally … stubborn. You could always count on him for a silly (but spot-on) gift, a quiet (but well-timed) zinger, a willing hand to help with hard work. He comforted the dog during thunderstorms and reliably filled bird feeders. He was a gentle soul who competed ferociously. He was a loyal teammate and a gifted athlete, taking up – and almost mastering! – golf as an adult. (Well, as much as anyone can master golf.) He never lost his love of the wilderness and of fishing. We hope he’s in the Boundary Waters right now.

He will be forever missed by his parents, Teda A. Jenkins (Patrick Custardo), W. Donald (Kimberly) Jenkins, brother Benjamin D. Jenkins and sister Natalie A. Jenkins (Mitchell Preske), as well as his many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and former teammates.

Whether you called him Andrew, Andy, Drewy, Drew or even Jimbo, you’re invited to come toast his life and tell stories of joy and remembrance with us Saturday, April 9, 2022 from 2-6 p.m. at Hitzeman Funeral Home, 9445 West 31st St, Brookfield IL 60513.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. You can do that online https://suicidepreventionlifeline.org/donate/  and even in memory of our boy. Thank you.
