Women Of The Year

Sue CWOSue Hitzeman was named the 2013 Women of the Year, by the St. Louise de Marillac Woman’s Organization. “I am so grateful and humbled by this award, I am so thankful”, said Sue at the Luncheon in her honor, May 18, 2013 at Elmcrest Banquets by Biancalana in Elmwood Park, IL.
Here is a brief synopsis of Sue’s history with St. Louise de Marillac and the Community:
• Member of St. Louise de Marillac Parish since birth.
• Graduated from St. Louise de Marillac Grade School Girl Scout for 8 (years)
• Life Member of the Girls Scouts of the USA
• Married 1977 to Todd N. Hitzeman
• My husband and I own and operate Hitzeman Funeral Home, Ltd., in Brookfield. Family owned Business for over 109 year.
• Three children: Charles (Danielle) Hitzeman, Kristine (Matthew) Humphrey and Laura (Nicholas) Tomeczko.
• Eight Grandchildren: Rachel Hitzeman (6), Twins Nathan and Michael Humphrey (5), Nicholas Tomeczko (5), Joesph Hitzeman (4), Natalie Tomeczko (3), Colin Humprey (2) and Tyler Tomeczko (born April 2).
• Chuck, Kris and Laura all graduated St. Louise
• Room mom and Member of St. Louise Home School Association for 12 years, 4 years Cub Scout leader and 2 years Committee Chairman for Pack 111
• 10 years Girls Scout leader and 5 years School coordinator for St. Louise Girl Scouts. Receiving the Leader of the Year Award.
• Brookfield Chamber of Commerce Women of the Year 1997. Acknowledged by the Illinois Senate and House of Representatives
• Active with the Brookfield-LaGrange Park Lions Club and Brookfield Chamber of Commerce.
• Joined St. Louise de Marillac Catholic Women’s Organization in 1997. Was elected to Church Communities Committee.
• Chaired the 2000 Millennium NewYear’s Eve Party sponsored by the CWO
• Chaired the first St. Louise de Marillac Parish “2001” Oktoberfest sponsored by the CWO. The CWO Sponsored the Parish Oktoberfests through 2004. I co-chaired the Oktoberfest by bringing in other Parish organizations to support the event.
• Served as Vice President from 1998 to 2000.
• Elected to President and served from 2000 to 2002.
• Have supported working the Rummages Sales, Craft Fairs, Santa’s Breakfast, Fashion Shows, Mary’s Way of the Cross, Flower sales to name a few of our activities.
• Currently have been Co-Chairing our Rummage Sale for the past 4 years.
• Support the Parish and School functions: Oktoberfests, Carnival, Auctions, Horse Races, Walk-a-Thons

As you can see, she has been very busy!
