William “Bill” L. Steinke was born on November 2, 1935 in Chicago IL to Ben and Martha (Balcerek) Steinke. Bill fell in love and married the love of his life “Aggie” Agatha Mancuso on September 11, 1955. William was a talented carpenter, woodworker and home builder. He eventually retired as a Building engineer from Westchester Public Schools District 92 ½. Bill was a strong-willed man who loved his family and was a hard worker. He was a devoted husband, father, and loyal friend. He also enjoyed traveling and fishing, as well as watching WWII movies.
He will be missed by his beloved wife of 65 years “Aggie” Agatha, his children David (Jill) Steinke, Michael (Victoria) Steinke, Mary (Steve) Rathke, Laura (Danny) Novak, grandfather of Ellen Steinke, Elizabeth (Caleb) King, Chris (Tori) Steinke , Jacque (Tom) Knack, Alyssa Steinke, Katy (Jarrod) Lichty, Dana Novak, Megan (Nick) Shissler, Michelle Rathke and Nick Rathke; great grandfather of Avery, Evelina, Lukas, Emilia, Walker, Cam and Elaina. Bill is survived by his brother Don (Carrie) Steinke and his sister Marie Lowe. Bill was 85 years young when he left us on December 1, 2020 from complications arising from the COVID-19 virus.
A committal service will be held at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside on Saturday, December 5, 2020. Anyone wishing to participate can meet at Hitzeman Funeral Home, 9445 W. 31st Street, Brookfield at 1 P.M. to process to the cemetery with the family. For those whom would like to participate virtually, services will be streamed live at https://www.memorialslive.com/steinke [1]. Bill was my boss during the breaks when I worked maintenance for the Westchester Schools. I learned a lot during my years working with him. I will always appreciate what he taught me. I am sorry for your loss.
To Aggie, Dave, Michael ,Mary Beth, Laura and to all the Steinke family ,our heartfelt sympathy and prayers are offered .Bill was part of my life when I needed an adult to talk with. I remember most his smile and stories that lifted my spirits. We are truly sorry for your loss.
