My sympathy to you all on Ray’s passing. He was a kind and genuine man who had the community’s best interests at heart. He was a good leader. I knew him best as a member of the SEASPAR Board where I worked for many years. His service was very much appreciated. Thank you for sharing him with all of us!

Condolence from Shirley Wass on November 9th, 2019 5:28 pm

Ray had many friends in District 149, and I was privileged to be one of them. He was more than my administrator; he was my friend…and I’m sure many of us in the District can say that. He was also a great patriot. May your fond memories of him eventually overshadow the loss you now feel. RIP, Ray!

Condolence from Claudia DeGraaf on November 9th, 2019 6:09 pm

My sincerest sympathies to the Wielgos family. I am shocked and saddened to hear that Ray has passed. Ray was my principal, my mentor, and my friend for many years. I can’t think of a man I admired more than Ray. The kindnesses that he bestowed on me, my family and all the DIRKSEN family will never be forgotten. I am so sorry that I am unable to attend his funeral! May he Rest In Peace. I know he is hearing the words, “Well done my faithful servant.”
Servant.”

Condolence from Ken Figurelli on July 29th, 2021 5:04 pm

I just heard about this today on messenger because I just joined it July 2021.
I am very sorry to hear about Ray’s passing, and want to give my condolences to his wife and family.
I was Ray’s assistant at Dirksen for six years, and he was a great boss. He taught me a lot.
I will always have fun memories of Ray, and my ears of Dirksen middle school.
