Roy W. Hackbush, age 96, of Indian Head Park. Beloved husband of the late Carleeta, survived by daughter Cynthia. Preceded in death by his parents George and Louise Hackbush and brother George (Marie) Hackbush. Survived by sister-in-law Donna Sell, nieces Lucy, Beth and Colette and nephews Ed, Matt, Ron and Bob. Roy was born in Chicago, attended Grace Lutheran School, Farragut High School and Northwestern University. During World War II, he graduated from the Army Air Corp. Finance School at Wake Forest College and served as a Finance Officer for the California Air Defense Air Transport Command. He was a member of the Robert E. Coulter Post #1941 of the American Legion in La Grange, IL. He and Carleeta were married in October, 1950 and were blessed to celebrate their 50th anniversary in 2000. Together they enjoyed world travel, summers in Fox Lake and winters in Florida. Roy was the founder and owner of Tri-State Specialties, Inc., until his retirement in 1992 and was an Emeritus Member of the Institute of Food Technologists. He was also a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in La Grange, IL. and an avid stamp collector and baseball fan. Visitation Thursday July 2, 2015, 3 P.M. to 8 P.M. at Hitzeman Funeral Home Ltd. 9445 W. 31st St., Brookfield, IL 60513. Memorial service Saturday July 18, 2015, 11 A.M. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 47th St. & Brainard Ave., La Grange, IL. Interment Private.
