Robert John Wapiennik, age 76, proud US Navy Veteran who proudly served his country during the Vietnam War, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family.
Beloved husband of Lorraine Wapiennik, nee Belovar for more than 50 years; devoted father of Lesley Baron and Beth Wapiennik; cherished grandfather of Cayla Erzinger, Timmy Erzinger, Julian Baron, and Lisa Baron. Dear brother of the late Eugene "Gino" (the late Carol) Tylka, the late Ken Tylka, and Arlene (the late Hank) Zitnik; beloved brother-in-law of Shirley (the late Butch) Flenard. Loving uncle, cousin, and friend to many.
Bob was a proud Navy veteran, devoted family man, and loyal friend. He loved spending time with family and friends and was truly the life of the party. Music was one of his greatest joys, and he was blessed with an amazing singing voice. Any chance he got to sing, he took it, bringing smiles, laughter, and unforgettable memories to everyone around him. He was especially proud of his grandchildren and took great joy in their accomplishments, milestones, and the unique individuals they became. His love for them was evident in every story he shared and every moment he spent with them. His warmth, sense of humor, and larger-than-life presence lit up every room he entered. Bob was also a proud member of the Cicero Eagles #1935, where he formed many lifelong friendships.
Bob's family will forever cherish the love, laughter, music, and memories he shared with them. A devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, veteran, and friend, he leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue through the family he treasured so deeply. His voice may be silent, but the songs he sang and the joy he brought to others will live on in their hearts forever.
