Phillip Hammerschmitt, age 84, of Brookfield. Beloved husband of Carolyn Hammerschmitt, nee Crothers; dear father of Beth (Tom) Kraus, Timothy (Rizalina) Hammerschmitt, Douglas (Emmanuelle) Hammerschmitt, and Amy (John) Stinson; "Papa" of Ian (fiancé Erin), Sean, Haley, Morgan, Sydney, Andrew, Noah, Nathan, and Brianna; great-grandpa of Degan and Delaney; brother of Bruce (Linda), the late Patricia and Marilyn; uncle of many nieces and nephews. "Master Hugger" of many.
Phil was a computer engineer until his retirement. Most of those years he was employed by IBM. In June of this year, Carolyn and Phillip celebrated 59 years of marriage. He will always be remembered for his great stories and for the weekly "papa cards" that he sent to all of the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
