Paul Melvin Uthene

Paul Melvin Uthene fell asleep in Christ on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, following a brave battle with cancer. Born on August 24, 1948, to Howard and Margaret Uthene, née Lindvig, Paul was born again through the saving waters of holy baptism on Jan 9, 1949, at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Chicago, IL, and confirmed his faith on April 15, 1962, at St. Johns Lutheran Church, Chicago, IL. A faithful, God-fearing man, Paul was a dedicated member of Saint Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Brookfield, IL, since 2012. He is preceded in death by his siblings Clifford, Susan, Jeanette and Sonny. Paul is survived by his brother Curtis. Paul grew up in a lively household alongside his five siblings. He was an Army veteran, who honorably served his country from 1970 to 1974. Loved by many family and friends, Paul will be missed more than words can say.

A funeral service will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Brookfield, IL, on Wednesday, August 26, at 10am.

A committal service with military honors will take place on Monday, September 14, 2026, at 10:30 AM at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, Illinois, with Pastor Edward Naumann officiating.
