A bright light has gone out in the world with Mary's passing. Her quick smile and infectious laugh welcomed and put everyone at ease. I'm so grateful Mary started our high school reunions, giving all of us the chance to rekindle old friendships and begin new ones to this day. Dennis, please know you'll always be an important member of the group. Sincere condolences to you and your family.

What can you say about losing a friend of 58 years. She will be so missed. Great memories of so many happy times spent with Mary. All the way from our days at Gross School together, to Mary being my Maid of Honor almost 50 years ago to my three grown daughters who still call her "Auntie Mowie." My sincerest sympathy to Dennis, Jonathan and all of the Bonis/Candlish Family. Our joy is that we know we will see her again someday.

We are so sorry to hear this news, and our hearts are heavy for Dennis, Jonathan and the whole Bonis family. Mary Ellen’s parents, Em and John, were best friends with my grandparents and me, my sister and my cousins are the third generation to have memories of Mary Ellen and the Bonis family. No one was kinder, more loving, more faithful or more genuine than Mary Ellen. I will miss seeing her every Fourth of July at the Brookfield parade, but will always remember her smile and her warmth.

We first met Mary through family friends - Liz and Alan Hale. Her warmth and humor were contagious. Although we saw her infrequently over the years, each time we were together she remembered family names and genuinely cared how everyone was doing. Such a dedicated wife and Mom, she always had something wonderful to say about Dennis and Jonathan. She will be deeply missed!

I first met Mary with her "larger than life" personality" in 7th hour PE class at RB & had the privilege to get to know her better throughout the past (almost 50!) years. She always had a smile, a laugh, and a genuine interest in everyone she met. Our loss is heaven's gain.

Mary celebrated life by fostering her deep faith in Christ and giving her gift of stewardship preparing for the lord. She used her gift of stewardship by teaching children, cooking/baking and making people feel loved and important. With enthusiasm she made arrangements in advance to make sure Dennis was available to celebrate their wedding anniversary at mass! She loved you Dennis and Johnathan more than anyone in the world. You can see it in her eyes and smile. Mary's memory of love and kindness will live on deep in my heart.

Mary was one of a kind. If you were with Mary, you never left a restaurant, bar, store or women's restroom without meeting new people. Her sense of humor was priceless. She left us with many wonderful memories and those are what we should keep close. God bless Mary's family.

I was heartbroken to hear of the passing of Mary. I went to grade school as well as high school with her and can remember all the laughs we had with her. Always had a smile and great outlook on life! She will be missed at our next HS reunion this upcoming year. Heartfelt condolences to both the Candlish family and the Bonis family! Mary always had a smile and a cute smirk for those of us who were lucky enough to know her at R-B and to re-acquaint ourselves with her during recent class reunions and meetups. Wishing you, Dennis, my sincerest condolences, for as Willie Nelson said, you won’t get over this, but you’ll need to get through this.

My deepest condolences for the Candlish family. Mary was one of the first teachers I met when I started working at Schubert in 1990. She took me under her wing and guided me through my first year teaching. Her smile every day truly captured her love of teaching. I know she touched the lives of every child she taught and every teacher she taught with.

I've worked with Dennis for several years. During that time I was able to meet Mary. She had such a beautiful energy and fun-loving spirit. Over the years she sent countless delicious baked goodies to the office with Dennis. It was obvious thatDennis and Mary had a great amount of love and respect for one another. My heart goes out to Dennis and Jonathan during this difficult time.

My deepest sympathy to Mary’s family. I was a real fan of Mary in high school! We always manage to get ourselves in trouble in study hall. In fact we sat at our own table for one semester and we would laugh and get into more trouble. Mary has a smile that could light up an entire room. I will miss seeing her at our upcoming reunion. Gone way to soon. My thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time.
