Marie B. Lewandowski, nee Sladek, age 94, of Naperville, formerly of Brookfield. Beloved wife of the late Alfred M. Lewandowski, cherished step-mother of Sandra (Thomas) Burrell and Dennis Lewandowski; dear grandmother of David (Kelly) Burrell, Dwayne (Julie) Burrell, Christopher (Julie) Lewandowski, Diana (Brian) Silhan and Alysa (Jose) Medina; adored great-grandmother of Caitlyn, Nicholas and Matthew Burrell, Abigail and Christopher Jr. Lewandowski, Zachary, Ashley and Ryan Burrell, Nathaniel and Olivia Silhan, and Antonio Medina; dear sister of John (the late Anne) Sladek; devoted aunt of Jack (Kandy) Sladek and Carol (Dan) Richards. Marie was born on December 9, 1927 to the late John and Olga Sladek (nee Hipsman) and born into eternal life September 3, 2022.
Marie was a tenacious woman with a great sense of humor. She was passionate about her parish, St. Barbara Catholic Church, and her community within the church, including St. Barbara Council of Catholic Women (CCW), St. Barbara Senior Citizens, and numerous wonderful friends. An avid volunteer, Marie often split her time being a Sears Retirees volunteer, a Brookfield Zoo volunteer guest guide, and entertaining her grandchildren. Free time was spent with the Mitre Club, American Sokol Organization, Czech Catholic Union, and Royal Neighbors. Marie enjoyed "Wheel of Fortune" and "Jeopardy", very long walks and cheese balls! Marie loved to travel, visiting family and numerous locations in the U.S., plus Cuba, Bermuda, Ireland, Scotland, the Czech Republic and Germany. Marie and Alfred visited Jamaica and Hawaii (and yes, they took their golf clubs to Hawaii!) Marie will be sorely missed by so many who knew her as a strong, joyful woman, who loved tradition and family.
