Kathleen J. Moran, age 81, of LaGrange Park. Born in Cleveland Ohio to William Patrick Sr and Irene (Lukas) Moran. She was fondly called Kate by her family. Kathleen passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 24, 2026 in her home.
Kathleen was a graduate of Lourde Academy and attended Ohio State University.
Kathleen enlisted in the Air Force in August of 1966 and was honorably discharged in August of 1970. She served as an Aircraft Dispatcher and achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant.
Kathleen always had a fondness for airplanes and flying. She worked for Buckeye Airlines in Ohio and when she relocated to Chicago she began her career in 1973 with Northwest Orient Airlines. When the airline merged with Delta, she continued to work until December 2006. In total she worked for 33 years and loved every minute of it, even getting up at 4:00 in the morning. Kathleen was a customer service agent. She worked at the gate, weight and balance in operations and later at cargo.
Kathleen was a faithful member of St Louise de Marillac Catholic Church (Holy Guardian Angels) in LaGrange Park. She loved spending time outdoors, on the water and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Above all else, Kathleen treasured time spent with family and friends.
Kathleen is survived by her partner of many years Kathy, sisters-in-law Joyce Moran and Dolores Moran as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Also, by her favorite niece Trish Moran who spent a great deal of time with her throughout the years and in her final days. Although Kathleen never had any biological sisters, she became a sister to Mary Jo, Patric, Rosemary, Jeanine, Ginny and Andrea. Also Kathleen was considered an aunt to their children.
In addition to her parents, Kathleen was preceded in death by her brothers Thomas Moran and Bill Moran.
