Joseph F. Calek

Joseph F. Calek, age 86, formerly of North Riverside and Berwyn. Korean War Veteran. Passed away peacefully in his home August 23 surrounded by his family. Beloved husband of Mildred Calek, nee Vasko; loving father of Anne (David Lockery) Calek, Alice (Richard, retired CFD) Dory, and Joe Calek; proud grandfather of Matt and Dan Dory, Allison and Andrew Calek; brother of the late Helen "Connie" (Elmer) Bilek, Betty (Harold) Yirsa, and Arlene "Cookie" (Art) Vrba; fond uncle of Buddy, Debra, Laura, Joel, and the late Paul. He will be dearly missed by his grand-dogs; Elsa, Auri, and Blitz. Joseph, who was a die-hard Cub fan and a long-time employee of Hotpoint; loved sports, reading, family camping trips and fishing. Visitation Sunday, August 28, 2016, 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and Monday, August 29, 2016, 10 A.M. to Time of Service 10:30 A.M. at Hitzeman Funeral Home Ltd., 9445 West 31st Street, Brookfield, IL 60513.
