Joan Ann Schmidt, nee Metzger, age 91 of Brookfield. Beloved wife of the late Virgil G. "Red" Schmidt who passed on September 24, 1990; loving mother of Kenneth G. (Elaine) Schmidt, Linda M. (Edward) Mokry, Raymond J. (Janet) Schmidt and Alan J. (Barbara) Schmidt; dear grandmother of Patrick (Kayla) Schmidt, Matthew (Cassie) Schmidt, Jennifer (Paul Reed) Mokry, Jessica (Richard Bulin III), Katie Schmidt, Adam Mokry, Scott Schmidt, Kimberly Mokry, Daniel (Abigail Williams fiancé) Schmidt, Thomas (Katrina Vallort fiancé) Schmidt and Nicholas Schmidt; great grandmother of Madison, Madelyn, Autumn, Everett, Olivia, Connor, Bennett and Charlotte; dear sister of the late Donald (Barbara) Metzger, Ralph (the late Marcella) Metzger and the late James (Dolores) Metzger; aunt and great aunt to over 80+ nieces and nephews.

Joan was a longtime member and Past President of 10 Years for the St. Louise de Marillac Catholic Women's Organization, Bereavement Group and the Mixed Bowling League. She had a passion for gardening, sewing, knitting, cooking, baking and garage sales.

Visitation Wednesday, August 5, 2026 from 3 P.M. to 8 P.M. and Thursday, August 6, 2026 from 10 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. at Hitzeman Funeral Home, Ltd., 9445 31st Street, Brookfield, IL 60513. Funeral Thursday 10:30 A.M. to St. Louise de Marillac Church, La Grange Park - Holy Guardian Angels Parish, Mass 11 A.M.

Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.
