Frances Horgan

Frances J. Horgan, nee Trankina, age 85, of Brookfield, Illinois. Dear wife of Patrick Horgan; loving mother of Patrick (Emily) Horgan Jr., Pamela (Jeffrey) Roberts, and Amy Simler; dear grandmother of Patrick (Mehnaz) Horgan V, Collin Roberts, Alexandra Horgan, Connor Roberts, Nathaniel Powell, Aidan Simler and Caleb Powell; great grandmother of Damien Horgan; sister of Dr. Frank Trankina and the late Nina (the late Geno) Del Boccio; aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Fran was a native of Chicago and long-time resident of Brookfield, where she and Patrick lovingly raised their family. With a deep commitment to the Lord, Frances was a faithful member of St. Louise de Marillac Church in Lagrange Park for nearly 50 years.

Warm, kind, and compassionate in every way, Fran was deeply devoted to loving others. She unselfishly gave her time and creative talents, such as knitting countless numbers of scarves, hats, and bandages for the homeless and loved ones. She further served as an employee for over 20 years at the Ray Graham Association, a nonprofit providing care and services for people with disabilities.

Acknowledging her strength and grace in facing an Alzheimer’s journey in recent years, the family expresses great gratitude to the caregivers at Terra Vista of Oakbrook Terrace.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 from 3 P.M. to 8 P.M. and Thursday, February 6, 2025 from 9:30 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. at Hitzeman Funeral Home, Ltd., 9445 31st St. Brookfield, IL 60513. Funeral Thursday 10 A.M. to St. Louise de Marillac Church, LaGrange Park, Mass 10:30 A.M.

Interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.

In celebration of Fran’s vibrant style and spirit, the family encourages wearing bright colors to the visitation and services.
