Catherine Laverne Wurl (Hafkey) Nee Ryan

Catherine Laverne Wurl (Hafkey) nee Ryan, A fifty-year resident of Brookfield, Catherine Laverne Wurl , 75, died Sept. 13, 2006 at her home in Brookfield surrounded by her family following a long illness. Visitation will be held Sunday, September 17, 2006, from 2 P.M. to 8 P.M. and Monday, September 18, 2006, 9 A.M to 9:30 A.M at Hitzeman Funeral Home Ltd., 9445 31st St., Brookfield. Funeral Monday, September 18, 2006, 9:30 A.M. to St. Barbara Parish, 4008 Prairie Ave., Brookfield, IL 60513, Mass 10 A.M., and will be followed by interment in Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside. She was a devoted mother of 12 and played an active role in caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed frequent family gatherings and spending summers at the family cottage in Door County, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Edward M. Hafkey. She is survived by her husband Ronald; her sisters, Patricia Bronstein and Joan Funk; and her brothers, John Ryan and Thomas Ryan. Other survivors include her sons, Edward (Cathy) Hafkey, Michael (Barbara) Hafkey, Daniel (Alice) Hafkey, Jimmy Hafkey, Mark (Libby) Hafkey, Brian Hafkey; her daughers, Mary Ann (Ray) Lauer, Bernie (Steve) Wargo, Betty (Bob) Hilgenberg, Cathy (Wayne) Kuehn, Robin (John) Carter, Karen (Craig) Potter; her stepsons Brian and Christopher Wurl; 23 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
