Betty Lou Paisker, nee Fern, was born into this earthly life on October 28, 1931, in Chicago, Illinois, and was welcomed into the family of faith through Christian baptism at St. Andrew Lutheran Church on November 29, 1931. From her earliest days, Betty’s life was firmly rooted in faith, family, and love for others.
She attended Luther North High School, graduating in 1950. It was not long thereafter that she met a handsome World War II veteran and the love of her life, Bohumil “Bob” F. Paisker. The two were married in 1954 and shared a deep and devoted partnership for 67 years, marked by loyalty, fondness, and steadfast companionship, until they were separated by death in 2021.
After building their home in Brookfield, Illinois, in 1961, Betty became a devoted member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Brookfield, where her faith was joyfully lived through commitment and service. She was an active participant in the Altar Guild, Bible classes, and Choir, giving freely of her time and talents in support of her church community.
Betty was a devoted and doting mother to her beloved son, Scott C. Paisker, who entered their lives after eleven years of marriage in 1965. Motherhood became one of her greatest joys, and she embraced it with the same care, devotion, and selflessness that defined every role she held. She ensured that Scott received a strong Christian education by enrolling him at St. Paul’s Lutheran School, where she faithfully supported every school event and operetta—often sewing many of the costumes by hand.
In 1978, Betty and Bob purchased their family home in La Grange Park, where she would lovingly live out the remainder of her life. Through her exceptional decorating skills and carefully chosen collectibles, Betty filled their home with beauty, warmth, and comfort. That home became the cherished setting for years of Luther dinners, Thanksgiving dinners and beloved Christmas Eves—beginning with church services and followed by the opening of presents she so joyfully and thoughtfully gave. Each gift was selected with remarkable care and attention, always wrapped in love and accepted with excitement.
In her professional life, Betty worked during her early years of marriage for Exxon Mobil and later served as an executive assistant at Marsh & McLennan. She was known for her strong work ethic, professionalism, reliability, and quiet competence.
Upon her retirement, Betty graciously dedicated her time and commitment to caring for her four treasured grandchildren—Zachary, Lauren, Hailey, and Max—who were undeniably the light and love of her life. There was nothing she would not do to support, encourage, teach, and provide for them. She was their constant presence, greatest cheerleader, and gentle teacher, always instilling in them that God and faith would guide and provide.
The tradition continued with her grandchildren attending her beloved St. Paul’s where she would continue to volunteer and share her love beyond her own family as she spent her time reading to St. Paul’s kindergarten and first-grade classes, touching the lives of countless children.
Betty’s love extended well beyond her immediate family. She deeply cherished her extended family and held close bonds with relatives near and far, always making time to listen, encourage, and connect. Whether through phone calls, family gatherings, handwritten notes and cards. Betty made everyone feel seen, valued, and cared for—as though they were her own.
Betty was a woman who loved everyone with her whole heart. Anyone who had the privilege of knowing her experienced her unwavering generosity, genuine concern, and gentle kindness. Her love for family and faith knew no bounds and was reflected daily through her gracious spirit, humble service, humility, and grace.
She leaves behind a legacy of devotion, faith, compassion, and unconditional love—one that will continue to live on in all those she so deeply touched.

Paisker; loving mother of Scott (Jessica) Paisker; devoted grandmother of Zachary (Sofia) Paisker, Lauren (Alec) Muscarello, Hailey Paisker and Max Paisker; sister of the late Arlene (the late Richard) Scully; aunt of Tiffany (Kyle) Kinder, Michael Paisker and Brian Paisker.
