MaryLynn Joann Janetopoulos, nee Onesto, age 81 of Brookfield. Beloved wife of James Janetopoulos, Sr.; devoted and loving mother of Christopher (Elena) Janetopoulos, Joanne Janetopoulos, James (Julie) Janetopoulos, Jr. and Julie (Jeffery) Lauksmen; grandmother of Genevieve Janetopoulos, Margaret Janetopoulos, Leonardo Lauksmen and Lilliana Lauksmen; sister of David (Melissa) Onesto and the late Michael J. (Alice) Onesto, Sr.; aunt and great aunt of many nieces and nephews; godmother of many; friend of many.
Being a loving wife and super mom may have been her primary roles, but MaryLynn was amazingly selfless and generous to so many others as well. She was a loving daughter, sister, niece, aunt, cousin, Godmother, grandmother, and friend. You may have known her as MaryLynn, Mary, Mar, Marilyn, Sissy, Da’Mama Jano, Mrs. Jano, Mrs. J, MJ, Gram, Grandma, or even “Auntie Grandma”. A 50-year resident of Brookfield, MaryLynn was a tax preparer, election judge, bowler, PTA mom, homeroom mother, Girl Scout leader, Cub Scout den mother, church eucharistic minister to the sick, founding member of her women’s stock club, and the list goes on.
Most importantly, MaryLynn was the glue that connected our family near and far. In recent years she was stripped of many of her physical abilities, and more recently, MaryLynn fought hard to stay with us. She never once complained about her struggle with Parkinson’s or cancer. Her mental acuteness, love, and spirit were unwavering until her final days. We are all proud of her as she was strong both in life and as she approached death. We are deeply saddened that she is gone from our lives, but we are relieved that she is no longer suffering and has moved on to be with God where she belongs. MaryLynn’s heart touched us all. She will be loved and missed by so many. May she rest in peace
