Mary Jean “MJ” Jones, On May 30, 2011 she passed away after a courageous journey with breast cancer. MJ, 45 years old, of Riverside, was the beloved wife of David Matthew Jones; loving mother of Allyson Reilly Jones, Brendan Kerry Jones and Ryan Joseph Jones. She took these qualities onto the playing field of Notre Dame where she lettered and served as captain of the University’s field hockey team. MJ applied her passion for spirituality and literature towards her career in publishing working at University of Notre Dame Press, Noble Press and Loyola Press. One of her greatest professional accomplishments was working closely with the late Joseph Cardinal Bernardin on the publication of his seminal spiritual book on life and death, The Gift of Peace.
Thirteen years ago, MJ gave birth to three beautiful children. Ending her professional career, MJ chose to focus her passions on family, friends and community, touching countless lives. Four and a half years ago, MJ was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer.
