Joan Lenore Kunou Chambers, age 89, passed into eternity January 14, 2017 in Jackson, Michigan. Joan was a 60 plus year resident of LaGrange Park, Illinois before moving to Jackson. Joan married Hal Chambers in 1951, who preceded her in death in February 2009.

Joan is the beloved mother of Richard (Sharon) Chambers of Jackson, Michigan, dear grandmother of Katie (Jamin) Baxter of Martinsville, Indiana, David (Jessie) Chambers of Houston, Texas, and Jonathan Chambers of Wheaton, Illinois, and loved great-grandmother of Camden, Mackenzie and Reid Baxter.

Joan was originally from Berwyn, Illinois, the only daughter of Roy and Frieda Kunou, who both preceded her in death, growing up as a milkman’s daughter. She was born January 10, 1928, is a graduate of Morton High School (Class of 1946), an alumnus of Knox College (Class of 1950), life member of the Knox Fifty Year Club, and a Life Member of Phi Mu.

Joan showed English Setters, winning a number of awards, and was active for many years as a member of the Lyons Township Dog Training Club.

Joan was an active member of The Village Church of LaGrange Park for 50 years. She enjoyed many cruises and traveled around the world with her husband Hal, a World War II Navy veteran and retiree of Burroughs Corporation.

Visitation Wednesday, January 18, 2017, 3 PM to 8 PM at Hitzeman Funeral Home, Ltd, 9445 West 31st Street, Brookfield, Illinois 60513. Lying in state Thursday, January 19, 2017 10:30 A.M. to Time of Service 11:00 A.M. at The Village Church of LaGrange Park, United Church of Christ, 1150 Meadowcrest Rd, LaGrange Park, Illinois 60526.
