Joan Frieberg-Halas, nee Rapp

Joan Halas

Joan Frieberg-Halas, nee Rapp, age 89 of Elmhurst, formerly of Brookfield.  Beloved wife of the late George J. Halas; fond mother of Bradley (Kathi) Frieberg, Blair (Laura) Frieberg, Kurtis (Jennifer) Frieberg; dear grandmother of Diana (Ross) Plattner, Meredith (Andrew) Henson, Jennifer (Ryan) Ramshaw and Melissa (Benjamin) Brondos; great grandmother of Miles Henson and Cole Henson; sister of the late Jayne (the late Herbert) Dunker and Bill (the late Sallie) Rapp; friend to many.

Joan loved reading as she’d often tell people that she “hasn’t stopped reading since she learned to read.”  She said yes to every adventure due to her love for traveling, hiking, camping, and the outdoors. Every May you could find her in Indianapolis or in front of her TV as she watched the Indy 500. Some of her other favorite things included collecting giraffes and The Wizard of Oz. Joan enjoyed cheering on the Badgers as a University of Wisconsin alumna and a proud member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority.
