Grief Support Group

Hitzeman Funeral Home, Ltd., Brookfield, IL; is proud to serve our community and to offer a new program. We are now Hosting Grief Support Gatherings the Second Tuesday of Each Month.

In the past we have hosted pre-need seminars, hospice seminars, holiday remembrance events and other grief gatherings. We have found that through these events we can make a difference in the lives of the families that we serve. We are honored to offer monthly Grief Support Gatherings to the surrounding community. We strive to continue offering our support and assistance to all who may need it.

We know how losing a loved one affects the core of each family. Whether the passing is sudden or after a long battle with illness, each soul has a story. And everyone has their own way of coping with such a loss; sometimes, we don’t know how to start finding a way through the fog of emotions and despair.

Grief is a normal and natural reaction to the loss of a loved one. However, as normal as it is, it is frequently misunderstood by grievers and those around them. Grief counselor, Addie Anderson, LCPC from Begin With Counseling & Coaching Services; will facilitate a discussion that will identify common myths about grief as well as provide facts to disprove the misconceptions. This discussion is for anyone interested in learning about the effects of grief – especially the newly bereaved.

There is a sacredness in tears.
