Grief Support Group

Hitzeman Funeral Home, Ltd., Brookfield, IL; is proud to serve our community and to offer a new program. We are now Hosting Grief Support Gatherings the Second Tuesday of Each Month.

In the past we have hosted pre-need seminars, hospice seminars, holiday remembrance events and other grief gatherings. We have found that through these events we can make a difference in the lives of the families that we serve. We are honored to offer monthly Grief Support Gatherings to the surrounding community. We strive to continue offering our support and assistance to all who may need it.

We know how losing a loved one affects the core of each family. Whether the passing is sudden or after a long battle with illness, each soul has a story. And everyone has their own way of coping with such a loss; sometimes, we don’t know how to start finding a way through the fog of emotions and despair.

 Grief Resources

After the death of a loved one we can experience a wide range of emotions. To help us manage, by default, we generally rely on family and friends. While family and friends are important, they may not always be equipped to provide what you need. This is when other resources available to grievers can be valuable. However, if you don’t know they exist, you won’t be able to utilize them. In this discussion group, we will talk about what some of these resources are. From books, blogs, and support groups, come prepared to learn what’s available and also share with the group what resources you have found to be helpful.

This event will be held on:  Temporarily CANCELLED — Due to Federal and State requirements Hitzeman Funeral Home is following the protocol set forth for COVID-19 and not organizing gatherings of more than 10 persons. Stay Safe!

There is a sacredness in tears.
They are not the mark of weakness, but of power.
They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues.
They are the messengers of overwhelming grief…and unspeakable love.
