Grief Support Group

Hitzeman Funeral Home, Ltd., Brookfield, IL; is proud to serve our community and to offer a new program. We are now Hosting Grief Support Gatherings the Second Tuesday of Each Month.

In the past we have hosted pre-need seminars, hospice seminars, holiday remembrance events and other grief gatherings. We have found that through these events we can make a difference in the lives of the families that we serve. We are honored to offer monthly Grief Support Gatherings to the surrounding community. We strive to continue offering our support and assistance to all who may need it.

We know how losing a loved one affects the core of each family. Whether the passing is sudden or after a long battle with illness, each soul has a story. And everyone has their own way of coping with such a loss; sometimes, we don’t know how to start finding a way through the fog of emotions and despair.

Grief 101: Is This Normal?

Just like snowflakes, our personal grief is as varied as we are individuals. Each of us has our own personal experience. Even though grief affects everyone differently, we all will have some reaction to grief. In this discussion, we’ll talk about the normal reactions to grief as well as the signs and symptoms of complicated grief. Complicated grief is when grief symptoms worsen over time rather than get better. It’s the pain that doesn’t go away. Learn how to identify these symptoms as well as share your own grief experience.

This event will be held on:

Tuesday, February 12, 2019
Hitzeman Funeral Home
9445 West 31st Street

There is a sacredness in tears.
They are not the mark of weakness, but of power.
They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues.
They are the messengers of overwhelming grief…and unspeakable love.
-Washington Irving
