EVAN

James L. “Jim” Evan, 59, of 3282 East Lake Rd, Bemus Point, formerly of 3910 Cove Rd, Columbus, IN, died at 10:22 PM on Wednesday, February 27, 2008 in the WCA Hospital.  Jim was born December 13, 1948 in Marinette, WI the son of Andrew and Edna Lentz Evan and grew up north of Green Bay, WI.  He earned three degrees and was an instructor at Michigan Technological University, Houghton, MI.  In 1980 Jim began his career with Cummins Engine Co. in Columbus, IN.  During his time with Cummins Engine, Jim traveled extensively and temporarily made his home with his family in the United Kingdom form 1989 to 1993 and 1998 to 2005.  While in the U.K., Jim worked as Chief Product Engineer of High Horse Power.  Jim and his family returned to the Jamestown, NY area in December 2005.  Since that time, Jim has worked as the Chief Product Engineer for the Heavy Duty Engine Program at Cummins Engine Co.’s Jamestown, NY plant.  He was a member of Sigma Xi Scientific Research Society of North America and the Pi Tau Sigma (an honorary Mechanical Engineering Fraternity) and was registered as a Professional Engineer by the Department of Licensing and Registration. Since returning to the United States in December 2005, Jim and his family have attended St. Timothy Lutheran Church, Bemus Point, NY.  He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Columbus, IN.  Surviving are his wife Jeanne M. Boucek Evan whom he married December 22, 1973; 4 daughters Elisabeth Evan of Keller, TX, Rebecca Evan of London, England, 2nd Lieutenant Rachel Evan of US Army, Fort Huachuca, AZ, and Sarah Evan of Bemus Point; a son Peter Evan of Cambridge, England; a sister Mary (James) Jeffries of Gainesville, FL; and a brother Dr. Andrew (Bonnie) Evan of Indianapolis, IN.  Jim was preceded in death by his father Andrew who died December 31, 1994, his mother Edna who died March 21, 2006, 2 daughters Sara Evan who died October 9, 1980 and Maryelisabeth Evan who died January 14, 1996 and a son Daniel Evan who died November 14, 1992.  The Funeral Service was held at 3:00 PM on Monday in the Lind Funeral Home, Jamestown, New York.   The Rev. Thomas A. Going, a retired Lutheran Pastor in Columbus, IN will officiate.  A Graveside Service will be held Friday, March 7, 2008 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel Hill Cemetery, Chapel, Rt 83 & Roosevelt Rd., Oakbrook Terrace, IL. Timothy W. Gawron, age 60, of Westchester; loving brother of Susan (Arthur) Landen, Carla (Ronald) Bolz, Paul Gawron, and the late Ellen N. Gawron; dear uncle of Sheridan Cuddy; dear great uncle of Brenden Cuddy; After Graduation from Smith College with a Master’s Degree In Social Work, Tim was a psychiatric social worker for Community Family Services in Western Springs from 1978 to 1982. In 1982, he became the Assistant Clinical Professor for Pediatric and Genetics Counseling at the University of California Irvine College of Medicine. He also served as the Chief Social Worker and the Director of Education for that program. From 1987 to 1995 he was the Director of Social Medicine for Kaiser Permanente. In 1995, Tim returned to Illinois and became the Project Director for the Community Wraparound Initiative, a federally funded demonstration grant in Lyons, Riverside and Proviso Township. With the successful completion of the grant, Tim served as the Manager for Quality Improvement and Applied Research at the Illinois Department of Mental Health, Office of Mental Health. In 2004, Tim accepted a position with the Department of Children and Family Services as Statewide Administrator for Behavioral Health. Tim was also a nationally renowned consultant, providing expertise though the Center for Mental Health Services, Technical Assistance Partnership for Child and Family Mental Health.
