Brazulis whom she loved so dearly her pride and joy forever. Wife of the late Walter L. Brazulis whom she loved from the day they met and were married for 60 years. She made their home a happy place to come home to; which Dorothy, Wally and Donna shared with much love and happiness. She was a Co-Leader and helped to organize the first Girl Scout Troup in Mater Christi School. Arlene D. Masek, nee Bykowski, age 74 passed away in her home in Downers Grove on Tuesday, November 10,2009. Arlene was born January 12, 1935 to Chester and Mary Bykowski in Cicero, where she grew up with her late brother Robert (Irene) Bykowski and sisters Virginia Pinkowski and Joyce Kuras. She was a 1953 graduate of Morton High School. Arlene is survived by her husband Donald, with whom she shared more than 53 happy years and raised their eight children Patricia (Donald Bee Jr.) Masek, Terri (James) Mallon, Kelly (Robert Mavis) Masek, Kim (Mark) Bozich, Donald Jr. (Suellyn), Judi (the late James) Harris, James (Joy) Masek and Jennifer (Glenn) Cannon. Arlene was a much-loved grandmother, too, with 17 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. As co-owner and designer of ArDon’s Flowers & Gifts, Arlene’s floral creations enhanced special occasions for families in the Brookfield area for more than 29 years, particularly for the many dances and proms held by local high schools. Prior to ArDon’s, she and Donald owned and operated United Food Co. and United Meat Co. in Cicero. Active in the community, Arlene held office with the West Suburban Junior Women’s Club, served for many years with the Village of Brookfield Zoning Commission and received recognition for her leadership by the Brookfield Chamber of Commerce. After moving from Brookfield, she remained connected to the community through its annual Fourth of July parades, designing and supervising the building of award-winning floats, including replicas of The Statue of Liberty, The Iwo Jima Memorial and The National Emblem, the Bald Eagle.
