Marie Meier, nee Paloucek, age 95, longtime resident of Brookfield, IL., passed away on Monday, April 4, 2016 at the Chateau Center in Willowbrook. Beloved wife, for 43 years, of the late Henry N. Meier, Sr.; devoted mother of Henry (Cynthia) Meier, Jr., Patricia (Edward) Bednar and Cynthia (Thomas) Geishecker; cherished grandmother of Lindsey Meier, Henry (Erin) Meier III, Lisa Dome, Eddy Bednar, Jerry Bednar, Julie (Troy) David, Steven Geishecker, Scott (Marie) Geishecker and Kristi (Matthew) Pisanko; loving great-grandmother of Christian Meier, William Meier, Joseph Dome, Shela Dome, Emily Dome, Colin Geishecker, Ryan Pisanko, Leah Pisanko and Kayla Pisanko; loving great-great-grandmother of Weylen Cadorette. She was born in Yugoslavia in 1920. At the age of 18 months, she and her mother immigrated to the United States, through Ellis Island, to reunite with her father in Chicago. After high school, she attended business classes to become a comptometer operator. Through the years she worked for Chrysler Corporation, Reynolds Metals and Sears. She retired from Sears at 62 years of age. She was a lifelong member of the Czechoslovak Society of America. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Brookfield, Illinois, for many years. Mom loved to cook, bake, read, travel and most of all, spend time with her beloved family. Every Sunday was considered an open house for family and friends to drop by to enjoy the feast Mom had lovingly prepared. We have been greatly blessed by the Lord, to have had such a wonderful mother and grandmother for so long. She will be forever in our hearts and souls, until we are reunited again in Heaven. Our hearts are breaking because we lost Auntie Mae, but joyous that she now is reunited with Uncle Hank and George and Sylvia probably being bathing beauties at Grandpa’s cottage. To the Meier family, I’m very sorry for your loss. I wanted to offer you some comfort that I’ve found in the Bible. In John 11:25 Jesus said “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life.” It’s my hope that you can draw comfort and strength from this promise that we can see the loved ones we have lost to death again. (Acts 24:15)
