Margaret Anna Boehnert, nee Schumann, passed away Saturday, November 8, 2014 at the Scottish Home, North Riverside, IL. Born in Planitz, Germany in 1919, she immigrated to Lockport, IL in 1925, where she spent her early years. She loved exploring the woods and fields around Lockport. As a young woman she was the secretary of Lockport High School, her alma mater. Like many women of her generation she waited faithfully for four years while her fiancé fought in the Pacific island campaigns of WWII. She and Bill married in 1946 and raised their two daughters in North Riverside. She was a loving wife, nurturing mother, talented seamstress, amazing cook, world traveler, and a fount of common sense. Margaret and her husband were residents of North Riverside since 1948 and were founding members of the North Riverside Community Church. She imbued her children with a deep love of nature and beauty inspired by long rambles through the Chicago Forest Preserves. In the words of St. Francis she was a perfect instrument of love, pardon, faith, hope, light, and joy. She leaves to cherish her memory daughters Krista (James) Roche of Baton Rouge, LA and Judy (Daniel) Clune of Chevy Chase, MD; grandchildren James (Sally) Roche, Margaret (Bryan) Giblin, Sarah Boehnert (Robert) Hartman, and Katy Clune; great-grandchildren Daniel and Eric Giblin, and Helen Boehnert Hartman. She was preceded in death by her husband William, her parents, Ernst and Anna Schumann, brothers Carl and Heinz Schumann, and granddaughter Heather Roche. The family wishes to express their profound gratitude to the nurses, aides, and staff at the Scottish Home for their years of loving and compassionate care. We also acknowledge the gentle care provided by Vitas Hospice during her final days.
