Gerberi, nee Simko; fond father of Laura (Jeff) Pogwizd, Mary Ellen (Steve) Fiflis and Amy Gerberi; dear grandfather of Erica (Josiah) Wiswell, Stephanie Pogwizd, John Fiflis, Julia Gerberi and Nicholas Fiflis; dear great grandfather of Josiah Jr., Jonas, Zoe, Noah and Theodore Wiswell; brother of Anne (Ted) Strojny, Mary (the late Bob) Silkowski, the late John Gerberi and Michael Gerberi; uncle of many nieces and nephews. Visitation Tuesday, April 19, 2016, 3 P.M. to 8 P.M. and Wednesday, April 20, 2016, 9 A.M. to 9:30 A.M. at Hitzeman Funeral Home Ltd., 9445 W. 31st St., Brookfield, IL 60513. Funeral Wednesday to St. Louise de Marillac Church. Mass 10 A.M. Interment Queen of Heaven Cemetery. After retiring as a Repair Technician John was the President of the Adult Volunteer Program at Hinsdale Hospital for many years and worked part-time at Tischlers Grocery Store as the “Meat Counter Guy”. John enjoyed spending time with family attending his five grandchildren’s sport events and concerts. He also loved the Chicago Blackhawks.
