American FlagJohn B. Tornberg, age 88, of LaGrange Park, Army Veteran, died peacefully on October 29, 2016. Beloved husband of the late Lois J. Tornberg, nee Krebs; loving father of Karen Tornberg and Mark (Denise) Tornberg; dear grandfather of Jonathan and Matthew. He was preceded in death by his parents John R. and Gladys Tornberg, and his brother George. John was born and raised in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, graduated from Michigan Tech, and served in Korea immediately following the war. He then worked for many years as an engineer for Western Electric at the Hawthorne plant where he met Lois. John and Lois were long-time members of St. Michael’s Lutheran Church. For the last three years, John was a resident at Cantata in Brookfield, where he was able to share his musical gifts with the residents and staff. John was also a long-time Cubs fan. Lying In State Tuesday, November 1, 2016, from 10 A.M. to Time of Service 11 A.M. at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church, 500 E. 31st Street, LaGrange Park, IL 60526. Interment Private.
