Ron, you are in my thoughts. I am so glad Joann had you to help her through this final phase. She frequently told me how much she cared for you. Joann and I have been close since about 1975. Karon

Condolence from Marla Mutis on December 20th, 2012 10:42 pm

I wanted to express my condolences to the Joann Petkus family. I somehow stumbled upon this obituary and am not sure how or why.

I graduated from Maria High with Joann and wanted to mention that she was one of the kindest of classmates in my four years of high school. We often had lunch together and I think were in the same homeroom for at least one or two grades.

I am so saddened to hear of her passing and although we hadn’t talked since graduation, I remembered her well, especially her cheerful and caring attitude and her willingness to reach out to other people. We were in the Lithuanian club at Maria and I think she was in my Latin language group for four years, although it could have been the Math club.

Joann was a talkative person who took an interest in people and in life.
She was a very special person.

My prayers to each of you during this difficult holiday season.
